The Kabaragala mountain range can be described as a mountain range that has recently become popular among mountain climbers in Sri Lanka. This mountain range is located near the town of Nawalapitiya in the Kandy district. Kabaragala, the highest peak of the Dolosbaghe mountain range, is about 1506 meters high. If you have ever been to the town of Nawalapitiya, there is no reason not to see this mountain peak. If you come to climb this mountain peak, you should first come to the town of Nawalapitiya. There are plenty of buses that can reach Nawalapitiya from there for those coming from Kandy. You can also travel from Kandy to Nawalapitiya by train. Tourists coming from Colombo can take the Badulu train directly to Nawalapitiya. If you are coming from Colombo by bus, the easiest way to reach is to take a Colombo-Hatton bus, get off at Ginigathhena and then come to Nawalapitiya from there.
You can find the entrance to Kabaragala by traveling either on the Nawalapitiya Ginigathhena road or the Nawalapitiya Dolosbage road. You will be able to get off at the entrance to the mountain by hearing the Kabaragala junction on a Nawalapitiya Dolosbage bus. From there, you should walk past the tea estates and the fines forest to the mountain. If possible, asking someone in the village for directions will make it easier for you.
There are a lot of leeches and you should find a solution for them. The wonder you feel when you reach the top of the mountain is indescribable. When you reach the top of this Kabaragala, which is often covered in fog, you can see the Kotmale reservoir, the Monarakanda and Pussellawa areas, the areas around Ambuluwa and the southwestern parts of the central mountains extending to Sri Pada very beautifully.
If you start your trek in the morning, you will definitely be able to reach the foothills again by evening, and remember that the weather in the surrounding mountains can change quickly. We request you not to destroy this beautiful mountain range with polythene plastic, and do not forget to bring back everything you carry except footprints and photographs.
